MONTHLY ACTIVE OLDER ADULT LUNCHES

The Southside Virginia Family YMCA's Active Older Adult lunches are back at our Commerce Road location! Monthly lunches are catered by Johnny Ellington, and generally average about 30 of our Active Older Adult members. The lunches are excellent, especially if you are looking for a social outlet in addition to your workout at the Y!

Join us on Tuesday, February 28th at the Y for a pot luck lunch. The guest speaker at this month's lunch will be Joan Kruzicki and she will be talking about Brain Gym. The lunch will start at 11:30AM. Please register one week in advance for the lunch. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Michael DeNise at 434-392-3456.




HEALTH AND LIFESTYLE MANAGEMENT

Centra, in conjunction with Southside Virginia Family YMCA, is offering structured exercise programs and personal health education aimed at helping to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke. 

A Centra exercise physiologist works closely with each client throughout the wellness program.  The program includes an initial assessment, followed by evaluation of risk factors, fitness levels, body measurements, goals and interest.  An individualized fitness program is developed that includes warm-ups, cardiovascular workouts, strength training, cool-down, stretching and education.
