TOY DRIVE CHALLENGE RESULTS

The final numbers have been calculated and overall the Toy Drive was a HUGE SUCCESS!!!  The Chick-Fil-A Cow tallyed in at around 600 toys and Eddie the Deer collected about 200 toys.  It is fair to say that Eddie was CRUSHED!  Between the Cow, Eddie and other donations, we managed to collect over 1000 toys to be distributed and make sure that no child in our very own community goes without a present this Christmas.  Thank you Farmville and surrounding community for all of your donations and support.

TOY DRIVE CHALLENGE

From now until December 3, 2010, the Southside Virginia Family YMCA will be competing against Chick-Fil-A to collect the most toys!  Help Eddie the Deer win this challenge by bringing in your toys to the Y by December 3rd.  The Chick-Fil-A Cow will be collecting toys at Chick-Fil-A as well.  On December 3, stop by Wal-Mart to see the toy count-off and check out who will win!  Click on the video below to view the challenge!

  NFL YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL COIN TOSS

This past Sunday, Eddie the Deer was a special guest for the NFL Youth Flag Football Season Kick-off at the Y as he did the coin toss for the first game!

EDDIE THE DEER, GRAND MARSHALL, FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL WALKING SCHOOL BUS

Eddie the Deer served as Grand Marshall for the Walking School Bus on Monday, September 20, 2010 and succeeded in escorting all of the Y afterschool kids safely from Prince Edward County Elementary School to the Southside Virginia Family YMCA. 

The day we all were waiting for has come and gone.  Eddie the Deer, challenged the Chick-Fil-A Cow to a "Duel in the Pool" after losing the dance competition on Healthy Kids Day in May.  The mascots were set to race, swimming one length of the pool.  Unfortunately there was a terrible storm the evening prior to the race and Eddie was in an awful accident where he was struck by a falling tree.  Fortunately Eddie was not injured too badly, only grazed with some minor scrapes and bruises.  Eddie and the Cow decided that the show must go on, so they chose 2 very lucky representatives to replace them in the race.  Check out our video to see the results!

CHICK-FIL-A COW DROPS BY THE Y FOR A VISIT

The Chick-Fil-A Cow decided he wanted to try to get an edge up on Eddie the Deer, so he dropped by the Southside Virginia Family YMCA one Friday during Summer Camp and brought all of our campers lunch from Chick-Fil-A!  The kids were so excited that even some of their votes may have swayed for who was their favorite mascot.  Take a look to see how it all went down.

THE CHALLENGE IS ISSUED

As we, the Y directors, travel to Chick-Fil-A to present the Cow his well-deserved trophy, Eddie catches on and decides to issue the Cow a follow-up challenge.  Watch and see what happens when Eddie stops by Chick-Fil-A for a visit.

EDDIE PREPARES FOR A CHALLENGE

Our very own Eddie the Deer mascot lost a hard fought battle to the Chick-Fil-a Cow in the dance competition.  Eddie was so very disappointed that he decided to challenge the cow to a "Duel in the Pool" on August 6th during our Summer Camp.  Check out how Eddie prepared for the challenge...
