The YMCA is a non-profit 501(C)3 community center focusing on life long recreational opportunities for youth, teens, adults and seniors.
The YMCA is a "bottom Up" organization, meaning that we as the local provider of programs and services decide on what to provide the community, truly making us a community center. We then work our way up the hierarchy of our organization, with each level providing us with the resources and support that we need to be successful. It all culminates in YMCA of the USA , which is headquartered in Chicago Illinois. In total there are over 2500 YMCAs and 50 million members.
On the local level we are governed by a volunteer board of directors, elected by the membership. All directors must be active members of the YMCA. We owe a lot of gratitude to the board for the time and talents that they all bring to the organization.
